The feminist movement in Brazil has a trajectory of advancements and setbacks. During the Workers' Party governments, there was a significant boost in gender equality and women’s protection policies; however, between 2019 and 2022, there were severe setbacks. The current Brazilian government, which began in 2023, has once again addressed women’s demands for rights and public policies. Nevertheless, the oscillation between periods of progress and decline reinforces the need for state policies aimed at the continuous consolidation of women's rights. This study adopts a qualitative approach, focusing on the analysis of facts and the interpretation of the country’s political moments to understand the adversities encountered from the Federal Constitution of 1988 to the present day. It employs the deductive method, along with techniques of bibliographic and documentary studies, to draw inferences that explain, throughout the course of the study, the oscillations in women’s policies and rights over the past decades.
