El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar la relación entre prosocialidad y materialismo en estudiantes universitarios de pedagogía de dos universidades situadas en la Región de La Araucanía, Chile (N=194; edad=21,4). El estudio fue cuantitativo, correlacional y de corte transversal. Con base en la teoría y estudios empíricos previos, se evaluó un modelo teórico de interdependencia entre las variables estudiadas. Éste presentó adecuados indicadores de fiabilidad y bondad de ajuste, evidenciando una correlación negativa entre prosocialidad y materialismo. Entre otras conclusiones, se releva la importancia de insertar la prosocialidad y la educación económica al curriculum de la formación inicial docente
The objective of the study was to evaluate the relationship between prosociality and materialism in university students of pedagogy from two universities located in the Region of La Araucanía, Chile (N = 194, age = 21.4). The study was quantitative, correlational and cross-sectional. Based on the theory and previous empirical studies, a theoretical model of interdependence between the variables studied was evaluated. This presented adequate indicatorsof reliability and goodness of fit, evidencing a negative correlation between prosociality and materialism. Among other conclusions, the importance of inserting prosociality and economic education into the curriculum of initial teacher training is highlighted.
