Este artículo interpreta el resultado de las elecciones presidenciales chilenas en relación a los principales ejes de campaña que se presentaron. Argumenta que el triunfo del candidato derechista corresponde a una situación estructural más amplia y que tiene un correlato con la situación política presente hoy en otras partes del mundo. El contexto es heredero de un cúmulo de costos y beneficios que emergen de las reformas estructurales neoliberales de los años 90 y 2000. Concluye que los escenarios que se abren en Chile dependen de la alianza política entre los descontentos políticos y una desfalleciente socialdemocracia que, sin referencias y agotada, deja a sus electorados sin suficientes motivaciones para optar por ella.
This article interprets the results of the presidential and the Congress elections in Chile, focusing on the principal narrative themes of the campaign. The author argues that the triumph of the elected president, a right wing businessman, corresponds to a political discourse that reflects a more broad and structural situation that is also present in other democracies of the world in these days. It concludes, that the scenarios that are opening to the new government, depend on the possible alliances of the of new emerging discontent electorates with a weak socialdemocracy, which seems to be so far, incapable to seduce the citizens.
