This article is part of a wider set of studies about Spanish teachers' work and health conditions. Due to its length, the first part will be published in this edition and it will be continued in the next. In the case of «Sexenio», the difficult work and health conditions of teachers would be the result of the discourse in between the exuberance of freedom and the resistance and fear of disentailing school, the key and unavoidable itinerary towards civil society and citizenship.
