As tourists gain in knowledge, they look for new travelling experiences. The popularization and globalization of cultural tourism has given way to a new kind of tourism, the so-called experiential and creative tourism, in which the visitor enjoys an educational, emotional and social interaction with the place, its culture and its native population. The visitors are given the opportunity to develop their creative potential by taking an active part not only in courses but also in experiences characteristic of the site. From now on, places once forgotten or alienated for not having “traditional touristic” resources, can be turned into successful touristic destinations. Moreover, these places can be visited throughout the year as those experiences can be enjoyed off-season. Cantabria, with its varied landscape –coastline, valleys and mountains – has a vast cultural and natural heritage. These features, together with some creative experiences, can help fight seasonal tourism. There are nowadays some very good examples of creative tourism while in other places the cohabitation or narrower contact with its local inhabitants still needs to be improved.
