El presente trabajo pretende estudiar los migrantes chilenos en la ciudad de Neuquén durante la década de 1980. Con ese objetivo en mente, primero echaremos un vistazo al contexto que sirvió de escenario al proceso migratorio que pretendemos analizar. Para ello, exploraremos la estrategia de crecimiento llevada adelante por el Estado provincial y los cambios que la misma imprimió en la población y en la sociedad neuquina. En segundo lugar, analizaremos, a partir de la información suministrada por la Encuesta Permanente de Hogares, la inserción de los transandinos en la estructura ocupacional de la capital provincial. En tercer término, pasaremos revista de los patrones residenciales desplegados por la población de origen chileno en el ejido municipal neuquino, tomando en consideración diferentes indicadores clásicos de segregación y utilizando cartografía temática elaborada con sistemas de información geográfica. Por último, gracias al escrutinio de fuentes nominativas albergadas en el Archivo del Registro Civil, examinaremos las pautas matrimoniales de quienes arribaron desde el otro lado de la cordillera.
This work studies the Chilean migrants in Neuquén city during the 1980s. To that end, we first analyzed the context of this migration process, exploring the growth strategy of the provincial State and the changes generated in the population and in the society. Secondly, we analysed, based on information provided by a permanent survey of households, the inclusion of the Chilean in the occupational structure of the provincial capital. Thirdly, we examined the residential patterns shown by the people of Chilean origin in the city, taking into consideration different classic indicators of segregation and using thematic cartography made with geographic information systems. Finally, thanks to the use of nominative sources of the civil registry archive, we analyzed marriage patterns of those who arrived from the other side of the mountain range.
