Esta investigación tuvo la finalidad de contribuir al entendimiento del fenómeno del discurso de odio, expresado concretamente, a través de memes, que circularon en Twitter/ X, en el contexto venezolano. Para ello, a partir de un abordaje cualitativo, se realizó el análisis de 66 memes con potenciales mensajes de odio, seleccionados durante el lapso comprendido entre el 10 de noviembre y el 10 de diciembre de 2021. El criterio de búsqueda y selección implicó explorar las tendencias durante ese lapso. El estudio concluyó que, en el contexto venezolano, los memes no escapan del discurso de odio, que su circulación contribuye a incrementar la polarización política en el país y dificulta la posibilidad de conciliación tan necesaria para superar la crisis sociopolítica existente. Se recomienda seguir investigando el tema e indagar en áreas del mismo que no hayan sido exploradas aún.
This research ́s purpose was to contribute to the understanding of the hate speech phenomenon, specifically expressed through memes, which circulated on Twitter/X, in the Venezuelan context. To do this, based on a qualitative approach, we analyzed 66 memes with potential hate messages, selected during the period between November 10 and December 10, 2021. The search and selection criteria involved exploring the trends during that period. The study concluded that, in the Venezuelan context, memes do not escape hate speech, that their circulation contributes to increasing political polarization in the country and hinders the possibility of conciliation so necessary to overcome the existing sociopolitical crisis. We recommend to continue researching the topic and investigating areas of it that have not yet been explored.
