    Tomando os manuais como instâncias de produção e de circulação de saberes de uma disciplina ou campo de conhecimento, é possível identificar as permanências e marcas que ainda hoje definem a disciplina História da Educação nos cursos de formação de professores. O artigo analisa a produção, circulação e apropriação do manual de autoria de Maria Lúcia de Arruda Aranha, intitulado História da Educação, publicado pela Editora Moderna, com três edições (1989, 1996, 2006). Aborda a trajetória da autora e sua inserção no campo educacional; a história da obra - da materialidade ao conteúdo, da edição à circulação -; e a contribuição para a disciplina. Foca a importância da História da educação e da Pedagogia; os temas abordados, a partir do índice e/ou sumário de cada capítulo; as referências bibliográficas; “os dropes”; as leituras complementares e as atividades sugeridas.

    Taking the manuals as examples of production and of circulation of known items of a discipline or field of knowledge, it is possible to identify the long-standing aspects and features that still currently define the discipline of History of Education in teacher education courses. The article analyzes the production, circulation, and appropriation of the manual authored by Maria Lúcia de Arruda Aranha, entitled História da Educação (History of Education), published by Editora Moderna, with three editions (1989, 1996, 2006). The article deals with the trajectory of the author and her entry in the field of education, the history of the work – from materiality to content, from publishing to circulation; and the contribution to the academic discipline. It focuses on the importance of History of Education and of Pedagogy; the themes dealt with, based on the table of contents and/or summary of each chapter; the bibliographical references; the “dropes”; the complementary readings; and the suggested activities.
