The latest management Report published by the German Federal Social Security Court, covering the year 2025, is of great interest from a comparative law perspective. Among other reasons, this is due to the selection it makes of “significant” judicial decisions adjudged by that Court during the year in question. Among them, a decision on the scope of the German contributory long-term care insurance stands out, which could never be found in the case law of the Social Chamber of our Supreme Court, since Spanish social security legislation does not cover the contributory risk of long-term care, which is [according to article 34(1) of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union] one of the six contributory contingencies of social security in the XXIst century in which we live.
