Through reading David Hume's texts, especially A Treatise of Human Nature (1739-1740), An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals (1751), and Of the Standard of Taste (1757), we aim to address his philosophy with the goal of obtaining a set of relationships between moral perception and aesthetic perception, emphasizing his reflections on taste. Attention is also paid to the forgotten influence of reason in these matters, which calls into question the official classification of Humean aesthetics and ethics as being reduced to sentiment. In addition, a brief overview of his research on the respective sentiments, separately, is provided. Six types of links between virtue and beauty are found in the textual evidence, as well as a no less important role for reason in his philosophical system. This could lead to lines of research that reconfigure the interpretation of Hume's moral and aesthetic empiricism, as well as contribute to the dialogue between (im)morality and cultural consumption and production.
