Discussions on information practices emerged in the 1990s with the aim of understanding the processes of obtaining, using, generating, and sharing information experienced by individuals in different social contexts and journeys. This article analyzes the academic production on information practices in Information Science postgraduate programs in Brazil, covering theses and dissertations registered in the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel Theses and Dissertations Catalog, from 1997 to 2024. The research, of a quantitative-qualitative and exploratory nature, sought to identify thematic trends, target audiences, regional and institutional concentration, as well as the most active advisors. The chronological analysis of the production revealed that, despite an initial pioneering period (1998-2010), significant growth occurred from 2011 onwards, intensifying between 2018 and 2023, with a predominance of productions in the Southeast and Northeast regions. A thematic pulverization was observed, with emphasis on invisible groups and digital information contexts. It is concluded that the field of information practices, strongly influenced by the Social Sciences, represents a critical magnification of user studies, focusing on the social andcultural dimension of information and the active role of the informational subject. It is a crucial field of investigation and practical action for understanding the production, circulation, and appropriation of information in the construction of knowledge in complex contemporary society.
As discussões sobre práticas informacionais, surgiram a partir da década de 1990, com o objetivo de compreender os processos de obtenção, uso, geração e compartilhamento de informações, vivenciados pelos sujeitos em diferentes percursos e âmbitos sociais. Este artigo analisa a produção acadêmica sobre práticas informacionais em programas de pós-graduação em Ciência da Informação no Brasil, abrangendo teses e dissertações registradas no Catálogo de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, no período de 1997 a 2024. A pesquisa, de natureza quanti-qualitativa e exploratória, buscou identificar tendências temáticas, públicos-alvo, concentração regional e institucional, além dos orientadores mais atuantes. A análise cronológica da produção revelou que, apesar de um pioneirismo inicial (1998-2010), o crescimento significativo ocorreu a partir de 2011, intensificando-se no período de 2018 a 2023, com predominância de produções nas regiões Sudeste e Nordeste. Observou-se uma pulverização temática, com destaque para grupos invisibilizados e contextos informacionais digitais. Conclui-se que o campo de práticas informacionais, é fortemente influenciado pelas Ciências Sociais, representa uma ampliação sobre crítica dos estudos de usuários, focando na dimensão social e cultural da informação e na atuação ativa do sujeito informacional. É um campo de investigação e ação prática crucial para compreender a produção, circulação e apropriação da informação na construção do conhecimento na complexa sociedade contemporânea.
