Actualmente la transición energética y el papel que los gobiernos tienen en el desarrollo de políticas orientadas a fomentar la investigación, promoción, desarrollo y aumento del uso de energías renovables es relevante. En México, desde inicios del presente siglo, se empieza a configurar una política energética orientada a promover una mayor participación de las energías renovables en la matriz energética, política que al pasar de los años se va configurando con ciertas acciones de gobierno y adquiriendo características específicas. Frente a ello es que nos preguntamos ¿cuáles son los rasgos distintivos de la política orientada a fomentar la investigación, promoción, desarrollo y aumento del uso de energías renovables en México? y ¿en el gobierno de AMLO dicha política se fortaleció? Para responder estas interrogantes se utiliza un enfoque descriptivo y explicativo basado principalmente en una metodología cualitativa.
Currently, the energy transition and the role that governments have in the development of policies aimed at promoting research, promotion, development and increased use of renewable energies has gained relevance, not only for the study communities but also for the government authorities too. Since the beginning of this century, the Mexican government begins to configure an energy policy aimed at promoting a greater participation of renewable energies into the energy matrix, a policy that over the years is configured with certain government actions and acquiring specific characteristics. In light of this, we ask: what are the defining characteristics of the policy aimed at fostering research, promotion, development, and increased use of renewable energy in Mexico? Moreover, was this policy strengthened under the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO)? To address these questions, a descriptive and explanatory approach is employed, primarily based on qualitative methodology.
