La escritora argentina Victoria Ocampo conoce al cineasta soviético Sergei Eisenstein en Nueva York, en 1930. They quickly become friends, and she invites him to travel to Argentina to film “a documentary poem about the pampas”, which ultimately never materializes. This article reconstructs the itinerary of this improbable friendship between the aristocrat and the Bolshevik. What neither of them knows, when they meet in the middle of the East River, is that during the previous months they both spent in Europe, they circulated in the same circles and yet never got to cross their paths. It took until New York for their encounter to finally happen.
