The digital transformation of the economy and society has become an essential element to increase the productivity and competitiveness of businesses, as well as to improve the social well-being of citizens. However, this requires a harmonious advancement that allows for the exploitation of the network effects characteristic of these technologies and the achievement of high levels of digital development. This article reviews the current digital strategy of the European Union to achieve this and analyses the situation of Spain and the European Union in this new scenario
