El interés por los valores paisajísticos y patrimoniales de las actividades agrarias, en general, y de los olivares en particular, es reciente, pero también creciente. El reconocimiento de estos valores como elemento fundamental de la cultura andaluza, así como para el desarrollo de los territorios donde se asientan los olivares tradicionales, tiene ya magníficas expresiones en la existencia de numerosos espacios museísticos y el avance de las prácticas oleoturísticas. A futuro, la probable inclusión de los paisajes olivareros andaluces, como Paisaje Cultural, en la Lista del Patrimonio Mundial, puede marcar un hito en este sentido. En este artículo se propone un itinerario para acercarse a la riqueza patrimonial de los olivares tradicionales en la provincia de Jaén, mostrando la diversidad y el contraste paisajístico de las zonas de montaña de Sierra Mágina y las feraces campiñas del Guadalquivir.
Interest in the landscape and heritage values of agricultural activities in general, and olive groves in particular, is recent, but also rising. The recognition of these values as a fundamental element of Andalusian culture, as well as for the development of the areas where traditional olive groves are located, has already been magnificently expressed in the existence of numerous museum spaces and the advance of olive oil tourism practices. In the future, the probable inclusion of Andalusian olive-growing landscapes as a Cultural Landscape on the World Heritage List may mark a milestone in this respect. This article proposes an itinerary to approach the rich heritage of traditional olive groves in the province of Jaén, showing the diversity and contrasting landscapes of the mountainous areas of Sierra Mágina and the fertile countryside of the Guadalquivir.
