The aim of this work is to present and analyse the theory of intellectual styles. This article is divided into flve parts. The first one presents the triarchic intelligence theory as a mental self-government model. The second part presents a theory of intellectual styles that can be defined as a brigde between inteligence and personality. The third part discus-ses sorne factors that have influence in the development of intellectual styles. The four part analyses how we can measure the intellectual styles in school settings. Finaly, we summarizes the principal keys to understand student's perfomance.
