Today, time is our most valuable resource. Increasingly, consumers are looking for products and services that can save them time and make their lifes easier. This trend has led to a great growth in digital platforms that offer services on demand, and especially those that send food at home. The convenience of these types of services is what most attracts consumers, and that is why any inconvenience in the service can have a great impact on customer satisfaction. Using text analytics, we examined the impact of inconvenience on customer satisfaction in the food delivery platform industry. In this study, we analyzed 235,147 customer reviews using text mining techniques and identified the key themes related to each issue. The results show that all inconveniences negatively influence satisfaction (especially canceled orders and customer service incidents), and the effects are accentuated when dealing with problems that occur frequently or when the customer perceives that they are incidents that could have been avoided. These results allow us to better understand the inconveniences of the service and can help the platforms to identify and improve critical areas of their services.
