Con el paso de las décadas la Victimología se ha independizado, paulatinamente, de la Criminología, sin dejar de lado el trabajo en conjunto que, a menudo, es necesario que realicen. Una de sus finalidades es proteger los derechos de las víctimas y coadyuvar a la reparación del daño. Al respecto, este tra-bajo presenta las bases de la Victimología, sus conceptos fundamentales y la forma en la que se ha institucionalizado en el ámbito jurídico, así como demuestra la importan-cia de fortalecer esta área de trabajo y de investigación, buscando no sólo mejorar la atención a las víctimas y ofendidos, sino la prevención de los procesos de victimización. En su desarrollo se analizan documentos históricos y normativos, destacando la im-portancia actual del Derecho Victimal en los contextos nacional e internacional. Se concluye señalando su utilidad para aboga-dos, criminólogos e interesados en la justicia restaurativa.
As decades pass by, victimology has gradually beco-me independent from criminology, but without con-joined work left behind among them that raises the need for some aspects to be worked out. The main goal is to protect the victims’ rights and to assist in the repair of damage. This research work presents fundamental concepts of victimology, and the way it has been institutionalized in the legal aspect. It also shows the importance to strengthen the ways of investigating in this area of work. This will improve the attention given to victims. It will prevent the victimization process. In the historical back ground, normative documents are analyzed, stressing the cu-rrent importance of victim law in both the national and international contexts.
