Since 2010, with the establishment of the third level of government, the Uruguayan electoral cycle has added an additional stage: the Municipal Elections. The Partido Nacional (PN) had successfully exploited these new elections. However, the 2020 elections were the first municipal elections that the PN faced as head of the national government. Hence, the question of whether this trend would continue or change.
In this article, we propose to address this question through a description of the results of the 2020 municipal elections using some of the most widespread indicators and indices in the discipline for their analysis. At the same time, the main milestones of this electoral cycle will be highlighted.
