Este artículo analiza las tendencias de las investigaciones sobre innovación social publicadas en la Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) de la Web of Science. Se identifican sus definiciones, métricas, temas relevantes, agentes y enfoques, a través de una investigación bibliométrica con el software “Bibliometrix”, así como una revisión bibliográfica de los 50 artículos más citados. Se concluye que existen multitud de definiciones de innovación social, teniendo como denominador común la implementación de nuevas ideas y formas colaborativas de relación entre diferentes agentes sociales para el abordaje de problemas y necesidades sociales complejos. Una parte importante de estas investigaciones se abordan bajo un enfoque micro, considerándose necesario para incrementar el impacto social y el tránsito hacia niveles superiores, meso y macro, que den cabida a un mayor número de agentes, entre los cuales destacan las entidades sociales
This article analyses thends in Social Innovation research published in the Web of Science Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). Definitions, metrics, topics, agents and approaches are identified via bibliometric investigation using the “Bibliometrix” sofware, as well as a bibliographic review of the 50 most cited articles. It is concluded that there is a multitude of definitions of social innovation, with the common denominator being the implementation of new ideas and collaborative forms of relationship between different social agents to address complex social problems and needs. An important part of this research is approached from a micro focus, which is considered necessary to increase social impact and the transition to higher levels, meso and macro, which include a greater number of agents, among which social entities stand out
