Las campañas de los candidatos a la presidencia de Brasil en 2018 se aprovecharon de un contexto sociopolítico marcado por el discurso de odio en las redes sociales online (Ab'sáber, 2015) para difundir contenidos desinformativos en Facebook y Twitter, pero sobre todo con más fuerza vía WhatsApp (Mello, 2018).
Taking into account the relationship between religion and politics in Brazil and the spread of uninformative content during its presidential elections, this investigation analyzes the relationship between religious discourse and disinformation in content contained in ten family WhatsApp groups during the 2018 presidential campaign. After carrying out a content analysis of videos, audios and still images shared on this social network, the results show that most of them included two types of misinformation: false context and manufactured content. The religious discourse is majorly based on the use of parts of the Bible to decontextualize the elector and the objective of the majority of the messages is to support Bolsonaro or to undermine Haddad's image
