Este documento presenta la incidencia que los factores motivacionales ejercen sobre el aprendizaje del inglés como lengua extranjera en estudiantes ecuatorianos. La investigación fue desarrollada en el cantón Guayaquil, provincia de Guayas, en los colegios: “Unidad Educativa Fiscal Provincia de Tungurahua” y la “Unidad Educativa Paul Rivet”. La muestra estuvo conformada por 120 estudiantes cursantes de los 1, 2, y 3 años de Bachillerato General Unificado. El instrumento empleado es una versión del Test de Actitud/Motivación (Gardner, 1985) aplicado con regularidad para identificar y establecer los niveles de motivación presentes en los aprendices de una lengua extranjera. La versión del Test que se aplicó está compuesta por 35 proposiciones. Los resultados evidencian el grado en el que se relacionan la motivación respecto al género, al nivel educativo en el que se encuentran los estudiantes y a la dependencia social de la institución.
This document presents the impact that motivational factors have on the learning of English as a foreign language in Ecuadorian students. The investigation was developed in the Guayaquil canton, Guayas province, in the schools: “Unidad Educativa Fiscal Provincia de Tungurahua” and “Unidad Educativa Paul Rivet”. The sample consisted of 120 students attending the 1, 2, and 3 years of the BGU. The instrument used is a version of the Attitude / Motivation Test (Gardner, 1985) applied regularly to identify and establish the levels of motivation present in foreign language learners. The version of the Test that was applied is composed of 35 propositions. The results show the degree to which motivation is related to gender, the educational level of the students and the social dependence of the institution.
