The article shows the main results of an investigation carried out at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Cuba (MNBA).
The research was carried out because of the need to know the social implications of the relationship established by the institution with its young audience and because of the need for the MNBA to get closer to that audience. For the purposes of this article, the objective is to propose an action plan that helps bring the MNBA closer to its young audience. For the proposal, the representations of the artistic heritage in the public of the institution were essential.
The study found support in the Theory of Social Representation (TRS) and in the conceptual bases of cultural management. It is governed by the sociological method, for which both methodological perspectives are used:
qualitative and quantitative. The results showed that there are three groups of young people that make up the young public and have different representations of heritage. It is concluded that these representations are an essential pillar in the proposed action plan, which has two fundamental characteristics: it is prepared in the form of a system and designed to be sustainable.
