In the strategies against depopulation, it is usual to consider rural areas as something very different from the urban ones, with opposite dynamics. This work tries to show this serious analytical and political error because the communities that live in these territories are hybrids. It would be more appropriate to redefine these categories in a more permeable way and to advance strategies with which to change small towns into vibrant places that take advantage of its complementarity with the cities.
