From the fourth century on, the lawyers defending the interests of the fiscus received numerous privileges from the rulers. They became an extremely privileged professional and social group.
Attorneys working in modern systems of protecting the rights and interests of the state no longer have such privileges. Nevertheless, they can enjoy job stability and a very solid salary.
