The purpose of this article is to explore the possibilities of a process constructivist theory of collective learning, where the habermasian key is weakened in its strongest aspects. In the first place, the foundations of this same key are analyzed and the way in which this author sustains the daring thesis of the growing descentering of conscience in modernity. Secondly, the article intends to link the problems of this conception on the basis of three main reasons: evolutionism, trascendentalism and the direct correspondence between individual and collective learning. Finally, Max Miller's and Klaus Eder's intention of getting rid of some of these problems are presented in a way that could serve as a basis to build an effective concept of collective learning, but this problem is undoubtedly beyond the scope of this article.
