The phenomenon of clandestine im-migration has intensified in the last three decades as an alternative for the internal problems that many African, Asian or Latin American countries face; from economic crises through political crises and persecutions of all kinds, to environmental problems such as droughts and earthquakes among others.Notwithstanding the modest figures, Brazil confirms an increasing gene-ral trend on clandestine immigration, with data revolving around 600 thousand immigrants. Unlike Europe, where the number of clandestine immigrants arriving on merchant ships is small.Between 2006 and July 2017, 234 maritime clandestine immigrants, from 27 nationalities, were identified in the country as a whole. The port of Paranguá, in the state of Paraná, became one of the most important places of arrival. A report is presented on some of these cases, showing a new dimension of the phenomenon: the possible cases of disappearance of migrants.
