The electoral reform of 2014 brought considerable resources to ordinary public funding received by political parties, once a unique formula for its allotment in the federal and state level was created. Is it achievable to reduce the amounts apportioned annually to political parties? Yes it is. Making a hypothetical exercise by adjusting the variables to calculate funding, it would not mean and inordinately increase the resources that are channeled each year. It would also be possible if the law states that only the national political parties receive a batch of resources at national level to subsequently distribute to their national and state executive branches. However, public funding for political parties is an issue that deserves immediate attention from policy makers, legislators, analysts, electoral officials, academics and people interested in the subject, with the interest of rationalizing the resources allocated to them parties
