Galicia y la región Norte de Portugal, transporte terrestre y aéreo: cohesión territorial y dimensión exterior

    En el marco analítico de los efectos de las grandes infraestructuras de transporte en el desarrollo económico, planteamos el papel y la dotación de las infraestructuras terrestres y aéreas en las relaciones entre Galicia y la Región Norte de Portugal, y constatamos la importancia de las redes de transporte en la configuración de esta región, tanto en la dimensión interna como externa. El papel de las infraestructuras terrestres y aéreas es muy diferente a la hora de satisfacer la potencial demanda tanto de pasajeros como de mercancías; mientras las infraestructuras de transporte por carretera y los aeropuertos cumplen adecuadamente esta misión, en el caso del transporte ferroviario, el déficit existente es todavía notable.

    In the analytical framework of the effects of the large transport infrastructure on economic development, we consider the role and endowment of land and air infrastructure in the relations between Galicia and the Northern Region of Portugal, and we confirm the importance of these transport networks in the configuration of this region, both in the internal and external dimension.

    The role of land and air infrastructure is very different when it comes to meeting the potential demand both of passengers and of goods; while the road transport infrastructure and the airports fulfil this mission satisfactorily, in the case of rail transport the current deficit is still considerable.
