El autor describe la racialización del conflicto político en Venezuela bajo el Gobierno de Hugo Chávez, gobierno que puso como ideal constitucional la refundación multiétnica pluricultural del país. Presenta los discursos racistas tanto de la oposición como del chavismo. Discute además las diferentes interpretaciones referentes a este fenómeno, y critica la ausencia en ellas de la percepción histórica sobre las causas del racismo en Venezuela. Asimismo presenta el más reciente avance de los afrodescendientes en el activismo para la inclusión constitucional a fin de ilustrar el momento crucial que está viviendo la sociedad venezolana en cuanto a la etnogénesis afrodescendiente
The author describes the racialization of political conflict in Venezuela under the Government of Hugo Chavez, government that set as a constitutional ideal the multiethnic and pluricultural re-founding of the country. The article presents the racist discourse both of the Chavez followers and of the opposition. It discusses diverse interpretations concerning this phenomenon and criticizes the absence among them of historical perception about which caused racism in Venezuela. It also presents the latest progress of the afro-descendants activism for the constitutional inclusion in order to describe the crucial moment for the afrovenezuelan ethno-genesis
