This paper discusses the issue of identity politics that the author sees as the current paradigm of the ruling classes in Europe and Spain. It analyzes how a certain culturally racist nationalism as the underlying common denominator, is complemented on one hand by forms of religious intolerance such as islamophobia and antisemitism and on the other by gender and LGTB identitarism. This process is shown as a way of the ruling elites to elude the social question and uphold the established relations of power, if not to pursue a seccesionism of the rich, by drawing attention to identity issues. Meanwhile, a left gone ideologically astray buys into these identity politics, instead of rebelling in pursuit of the equal liberty for all under the rule of law.
