En este artículo se explora la fundación y desarrollo de la Unión de Dependientes de Comercio, un gremio numeroso y dinámico de la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Se trata del primer intento de formación de un gremio por parte de los demócratas cristianos y, debido a la temprana intervención del Partido Socialista, esta experiencia alumbra, también, la manera en que las diferentes tendencias o corrientes presentes en el movimiento obrero compitieron por organizar a los trabajadores. Por último, el vínculo estrecho de este sindicato con el reclamo del descanso dominical, entre 1902-1905, permite observar algunos rasgos de la estrategia más general de los demócratas cristianos en la reconquista del espacio social perdido por la Iglesia Católica en el siglo XIX
This article explores the origin and development of the Dependents of Commerce´s Union, a very important, numerous and dynamic worker´s guild settled in Buenos Aires city. It was the first attempt to form a guild by the Christian democrats. The early intervention of the Socialist Party is another important element to consider. Because through this experience we can analyze the different tendencies present in the labor movement which were competing between themselves to organize to the workers. Finally, the article shows the multiple fights and claims done bay this trade union to get the Sunday law, between 1902-1905, help us to observe Christian democracy´s strategies in order to recover lost social space by the Catholic Church during XIX century.
