    The autonomous bank guarantee is a strong guarantee, which, through its autonomy in relation to the underlying contract and its automatic nature, gives the beneficiary the certainty that he or she will receive payment of a certain amount if he or she so requests from the bank guarantor. The guarantee may be enforced abusively by the beneficiary, which can only be prevented through injunction proceedings.     A garantia bancária autónoma constitui uma garantia forte, que, através da sua autonomia em relação ao contrato base e do seu carácter automático, confere ao beneficiário a prática certeza de que receberá o pagamento de uma determinada quantia, caso o solicite ao banco garante. Sucede que a garantia pode vir a ser executada abusivamente pelo respetivo beneficiário, o que só pode ser impedido, através de um procedimento cautelar.
