The aim of this study is to know some implications of alcohol consumption and its relation with the work performed by the workers in a construction company, in the city of Santiago, state of Rio Grande do Sul. a research of applied nature, qualitative-quantitative approach, descriptive-exploratory objectives and bibliographic, survey and field procedures. The results show that all workers use alcohol and / or cigarettes. This may have been triggered by frustrations at work, such as low pay and low professional growth prospects. However, even if it was not motivated by work-related issues, it has aggravated it. Alcoholism is a problem whose origin is more complex: social inequality. Access to education is deficient and causes inequality in training and the consequent search for a better job. Until a fair social equality is achieved, strategies must be made available, adequate to the reality of each service, for the prevention of diseases and the promotion of workers' health.
