The aim of this paper is to examine the socialization process and the emergence of the feminine identity of four executive women. Thru their personal stories we seek to analyze the main factors that facilitated the women’s ability to find new meaning in their gender identities once they broke down the traditional stereotypes of “tending to the needs of others before their own”. (Basaglia, 1985). They are women who, by having a social, political, and economic presence, manage to integrate themselves in the labor market at levels typically reserved for men.
The reflection of this writing is based on the life stories of four female leaders. Their testimonies acquire vast relevance as they reflect the transformation of the feminine subjectivity and, in general, the emergence of a collective awareness that better reflects modern times. Applying the qualitative methodology to the women’s testimonies, allows for the analysis of the correlations between the social views and the process of construction of gender identity.
