Through a bibliographical review and the application of a survey of 120 native citizens, tourists and fishermen of the Island of Santa Cruz, it was evident that there is little knowledge about the mangroves in Galapagos and their impact on the sustainability of the region, Which makes it possible to conclude that government authorities are concerned about the natural ecosystems that contribute to maintaining a high quality of life and a region free of natural disasters.
