“La necesidad de un equipo bien equilibrado” es un conocido dicho, ya sea en el deporte, las organizaciones o los arranques. Hay numerosos estudios que sugieren que el tipo de equipos funcionan mejor que otros para una determinada tarea, pero el proceso de formación de equipos que en sí es bastante inexplorada y al lado inexistente en la literatura educativa.
Por otra parte, los educadores agobiados por las cargas de los cursos y horarios tienden a optar por el método más fácil de la formación de equipo - una asignación aleatoria o autoselección por parte de los participantes. Teniendo en cuenta los beneficios conocidos de la diversidad en los equipos, hemos tratado de explorar la asignación de equipo de educadores y el uso de gamification para tratar de responder a la pregunta - ¿Es posible hacer que la asignación de equipo más fácil para los educadores, así como más divertido para el los estudiantes? Comparamos una solución de juego serio con un método instructorselection intensiva para la asignación de equipo. Este estudio piloto considera que los equipos de juego asignada a cabo igualmente el método de selección instructor, pero el primero ahorro de tiempo para el educador mientras que ser divertido para los estudiantes.
“A need for a well-balanced team” is a well-known adage, be it in sports, organizations or startups. There are numerous studies that suggest which type of teams perform better than others for a certain task, but the process of that team formation itself is rather unexplored and next to non-existent in the educational literature. Furthermore, educators burdened by course loads and schedules tend to opt for the easiest method of team formation – a random allocation or self-selection by the participants. Taking into account well known benefits of diversity in teams, we have tried to explore team allocation by educators and the use of gamification to try and answer the question - Is it possible to make team allocation easier for the educators as well as more fun for the students? We compare a serious gaming solution with an intensive instructorselection method for team allocation. This pilot study finds that the game-allocated teams performed equally as the instructor-selection method, but the former saved time for the educator while being fun for the students. While there were some hints that the game-allocated teams performed marginally better than the instructor-selectionallocated teams, further studies need to be done to confirm our hypothesis.
