Este artículo pretende abordar la problemática constitucional que actualmente se proyecta sobre las previsiones económicas de la Constitución española como consecuencia de la consolidación del proyecto de integración. Analizaremos las repercusiones que para la fórmula del Estado Social tienen los principios que vertebran la estructura misma de la Unión Europea, así como la incidencia constitucional que comienzan a mostrar los nuevos mecanismos de gobernanza económica. A tal fin, nos detendremos especialmente en cómo la integración ha supuesto el cierre de la apertura que en materia económica nuestros textos fundamentales consagraban desde su vinculación misma al principio democrático.
This paper seeks to outline the Constitutional challenges that have been raised as the result of the economic provisions embodied by either the Spanish Constitution or most of the European Constitutional systems within the framework of the consolidated European project. We will study the effect that the EU struc- tural principles may have on the Welfare State and the incidence that the new mechanisms for economic governance have already started to display. To do so, we will pay special attention to the fact that this integration has meant the final closure of the more open channels that our fundamental laws had linked from the beginning to the very same democratic principle
