The outlook of the business world has changed substantially and far beyond the accounting standards and financial reporting. In addition, the use of financial information has changed due to technology, which has also had a major effect on which of the assets to report on, due to the fact that the emphasis has moved from fixed assets to intangible assets like knowledge, trademark, algorithms etc. The world needs an answer to those changes in order that the financial reporting be relevant and fulfill the expectations of the financial markets, from which architecture is a key part. Significant efforts are being made internationally in order to make available standards that are up to these needs, and this article explains the projects that are working with the IASB and Accountancy Europe with respect to this, especially on the project of the IASB called Better Communication in Financial Reporting.
This promises to be the major focus of attention in the coming years and will have a significant impact on the European standards, and consequently, on the Spanish ones too.
