Ethnographic research bases itself largely on the direct presence of the ethnographer with the subjects of his research. All the actors present, including himself, the places, flavors, events, etc. constitute his fieldwork. It is not frequent that we analyze the painful moments and failures that usually occur in the field, either by modesty or by respect for the multiple disciplines of the Social Sciences. However, all moments are fieldwork and the different ways in which they are experienced influence the course of the researcher's presence, his research and the resolutions he will take. The subjects, with whom he works, can influence negatively or positively and categorically if the ethnographer does not assume his decisions. These concerns are part of two incidents that the author lived during his fieldwork investigation between intermediaries of the Mapuche williche people of the Chilean North Patagonia. This paper analyzes some furious reactions of these intermediaries as typical to actors belonging to a subordinate group.
