En un país fuertemente centralizado, donde los cambios institucionales tienden a ser graduales, la reforma constitucional de 1996 y más recientemente la aprobación de la Ley de Descentralización política y participación ciudadana en el 2010, constituyen dos hitos significativos que revalorizaron la política subnacional en Uruguay. Este artículo analiza los resultados de las elecciones de mayo de 2015, tanto a nivel departamental como municipal en perspectiva comparada, con el objetivo de mostrar la evolución del mapa político local y la relevancia que han adquirido las elecciones subnacionales en la política del país. A su vez, también se plantean ciertos desafíos que conlleva esta nueva configuración de la política local, centrándose en la importancia que han adquirido los actores políticos locales
In a strongly centralist country where institutional changes tend to be gradual, the constitutional reform of 1996 and more recently the adoption of the Political Decentralization and Participation Act of 2010, represents two relevant milestones that resignificate the subnational policy in Uruguay. This article analyzes in comparative perspective the results of the elections of May 2015, both departmental and municipal level, with the aim of describing the evolution of the local political map and the relevance that the national subelections have acquired in the country politics. In turn, certain challenges of this new configuration of local politics are raised, focusing on the importance that the local political actors have gained
