El patrimonio histórico y arqueológico que posee nuestro país es rico y abundante, lo que se corresponde con su intenso pasado y la importancia histórica de la que ha gozado a lo largo de los siglos. Para protegerlo es necesario llevar a cabo una serie de medidas que eviten su deterioro. Una de ellas es ponerlo en valor y con ello hacerlo visible mediante iniciativas turísticas. Por ello la arqueología puede ser una alternativa turística al tradicional turismo estival de sol y playa que está más arraigada en España. Hay que poner el acento y hacer hincapié en la necesidad de valorar los yacimientos arqueológicos. De esta forma no solo se atrae turismo, un turismo cultural y más específico, que proporciona riqueza económica sino que además aporta una serie de beneficios a la población local. Entre las ventajas que existen están la custodia de los yacimientos arqueológicos y la garantía de su conservación. Además se produce la integración de los yacimientos en la personalidad de sus vecinos ya que al fomentar este tipo de turismo, los habitantes de una zona hacen suyo esos yacimientos, y con ello los conocimientos del pasado local. Este proceso de transformación turística evita el olvido de los restos arqueológicos que es uno de los peores males de un yacimiento.
The historical and archaeological heritage that our country has, is rich and abundant, corresponding with its intense past and the historical importance that has enjoyed for centuries. To protect this, it is necessary to carry out a series of measures to avoid its deterioration. One of them is to put it in value, making it visible through tourism initiatives. That is why archaeology can be a tourist alternative to the traditional sun and beach summer holidays that are deeply rooted in Spain. We should emphasise the need to assess this archaeological sites. In this way we do not only attract tourism, a cultural and more specific tourism which provides economic wealth. but we also provide a number of benefits to the local population. Among the standing advantages, we find the custody of the archaeological sites and the guarantee of its conservation. In addition, we have the integration of the sites in the personality of their neighbours, since promoting this type of tourism, the in habitants of an area make their own these sites, and thus knowledge of the local past. This tourist transformation process prevents the oblivion of the archaeological sites which is one of the worst things for these sites.
