En esta novela de Jorge Volpi descubrimos la gran capacidad del narrador para usar distintos recursos estilísticos, entre los que encontramos la presencia de una historia omnisciente, el juego de espejos y los constantes giros retóricos. Los elementos intertextuales también son importantes, destaca sobre todo la isla de Patmos como trasfondo de la narración del Apocalipsis en el Nuevo Testamento, y que también será el sitio donde se lleven a cabo las acciones de la novela analizada.
In this novel by Jorge Volpi we discover the great narrative skills this writer has to use different various stylistic devices, among which we find the existence of an omniscient story, a game of mirrors and recurrent rhetorical turns. Intertextual elements are also important. The island of Patmos is specially highlighted as the background of the Apocalypse story in the New Testament, and it will also be the place where the events of the analyzed novel will take place.
