The article presents several activities from around the world in which nuclear bombs were used or could have been used from 1958 to 2010. They include U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) 1958 program called Project Orion that sought to power space travel by blasting nukes. In 1977, West German consultants proposed using nuclear bombs to excavate a canal in Egypt. The role of nuclear bombs by humans in colonizing the solar system was proposed by astronomer Fritz Zwicky.
