The article looks at the Ebola epidemic in West Africa in the context of the role of multinational corporations in developing countries. It cites rubber company Firestone and steel company ArcelorMittal as foreign corporations that played a positive role in the epidemic in Liberia. The author assesses positive and negative aspects of the activities of foreign corporations in poor countries and suggests that as their governments become more effective, the role of those corporations shrinks.
