A partir de algunas obras de Shakespeare, este artículo intenta mostrar (con independencia de que existiera también en el tiempo isabelino), la tensión resultante entre la ley y la clemencia; es decir, entre una justicia que no se identifica ni se reduce al derecho y un derecho que toma por injusto todo lo que escapa a su dominio. Dicho de otro modo, entre “forzar la ley” y la “fuerza de ley”.
This article tries to show, taking into account the Shakespare’s plays (regardless of the Elizabethan era), the strain between the law and the mercy, that is to say, between a justice that neither is, nor reduce, to the law, and a law that considers unjust all that escapes from his control. In other words, between “to force the law” and the “force of law”.
