According to several studies, in Chile, political parties are the political organizations with the worst evaluation. This is reflected in the distrust and loss of identification between citizens and these institutions which is explained by the fact that they have ceased to be the main partners of the social interests and demands. One of the factors that explain this situation, is that people have little or no knowledge about the everyday functions of political parties. Faced with this problem, transparency appears to be an alternative, because if political parties start showing their funding sources, programs and principles, they may be able to change their dark image. This article is a proposal to increase the transparency of Chilean parties, which needs to be complemented with political reforms oriented to increase the degree of institutionalization and legitimization of these institutions.
