La función investigación de la universidad Centroccidental “Lisandro Alvarado” (UCLA), en estos tiempos requiere de una praxis gerencial distinta que garantice la continuidad de las investigaciones, investigadores y recursos. El propósito fue conocer, comprender e interpretar los significados y significantes que le otorgan los actores sociales universitarios desde sus discursos y haceres, a la gerencia que conducen en la función investigación. El estudio se ubicó en el enfoque cualitativo, orientando la postura epistemológica desde el construccionismo social, bajo la perspectiva teórica del interpretativismo, apoyada metodológicamente en la fenomenología y la hermenéutica. Como actores sociales participaron ocho informantes clave. Se utilizó la entrevista en profundidad. La información se categorizó y codificó, emergiendo cuatro subcategorías. Entre los hallazgos se destacó: un estilo gerencial tradicional basado en el control y dirección, sin la participación de los entes involucrados;
Currently, the management of research at the Universidad Centroccidental Lisandro Alvarado (UCLA) in Lara, Venezuela, requires a different model of practice to ensure continuity of research, researchers and resources. The purpose of this paper is to study and interpret the how the role of managing research is defined in UCLA. The study uses a qualitative approach of an epistemological position from social constructivism, under the theoretical perspective of interpretivism methodologically supported by phenomenology and hermeneutics. Eight key figures from UCLA were studied and given in- depth interviews. Data was categorized and codified, with the emergence of four subcategories. Among the findings highlighted are: traditional management style based on control and direction without the participation of the entities involved; the onus is on the director / coordinator; project registration is low relative to the number of teachers assigned to the UCLA; a sense of demotivation is present in teachers. This research reveals that research practice at the UCLA is supported by a traditional management style.
Thus, the theoretical construct provided is interpretative.
