  This article discusses the myths that involve the image of the judge and their main task, which is to judge, “to decide”. For this purpose, the text will refer to human mythological constructions and their relations with rites as a way to diminish human anguish and uncertainty. The discussion will focus on the image of the judge and the play “The Wasps” by the Greek author, Aristophanes, written in 422 b.C., highlighting its “mythological” importance for the debate about the present legal system.Key words: myth, rite, judge, literature, conflict resolution.

  O presente artigo tem por objetivo principal estudar os mitos que envolvem a figura do juiz e sua principal atribuição, que é julgar, “decidir”. Para desenvolver tal objetivo, o texto discorrerá sobre as construções mitológicas do homem e suas relações com o rito como meio de diminuir a angústia e a incerteza da existência humana. Direcionando a discussão para a figura do juiz, será analisada a peça teatral “As vespas”, de autoria do grego Aristófanes, estreada em 422 a. C., abordando sua importância “mitológica” para debater a jurisdição atual.Palavras-chave: mito, rito, juiz, literatura, resolução de conflitos.
