Eduardo García de Enterría logró hacer frente a tres desafíos: imponer una concepción liberal del Derecho administrativo bajo un régimen autoritario, permitiendo así la transición democrática en España; dotar al Derecho administrativo español de una identidad propia, y, por último, fundar una escuela española de Derecho administrativo de renombre internacional.
Eduardo García de Enterría, the great Spanish jurist who died a few months ago, successfully rose to three challenges: Working under an authoritarian political regime, he managed nonetheless to impose a liberal conception of administrative law and thus facilitated Spain’s democratic transition; he conferred Spanish administrative law with its own specific identity; and, finally, he founded a Spanish school of administrative law that now holds international influence and prestige.
